The long-standing Japanese brand 2025 Nissan Qashqai was recently rumored to be merging with its main rival Honda due to declining sales in the US and China, raising questions about Nissan’s long-term future as a manufacturer.

However, the picture in Australia is completely different. Nissan is the third-largest automotive OEM employer in Australia, and its dealer network is also the fifth largest.
Nissan’s new car sales here in 2024 rose 15% to 45,284 vehicles, while Honda’s sales were just 14,092. Nissan owns the top-selling vehicles in their respective segments with the X-Trail, Patrol and Qashqai models.
Speaking of the Qashqai, the popular compact SUV has received a timely facelift for 2025.
There are upgrades across the line—new variants, an all-new exterior design and upgraded standard tech across all models.
Despite all these improvements, pricing has been kept close to the previous model, allowing the Qashqai to compete with its traditional Japanese rivals and affordable Chinese brands.
But will new car buyers be able to turn their minds away from the complexity of the company’s upper echelons? Read on to find out…
How much does the 2025 Nissan Qashqai cost?
The 2025 Nissan Qashqai range has expanded for 2025, with Nissan now offering six variants. At the bottom end, the base ST is $1725 cheaper than before thanks to an introductory pricing offer that runs until April 30.
Savings can also be had on the ST-L, which likewise opens cheaper than the equivalent ST+ it replaces.
Further up the range, higher-spec Ti-L variants come in $275 dearer, while the all-new N-Design e-Power flagship wears a price tag of $54,365 before on-road costs.
What is the Nissan Qashqai like on the inside?
2025 Nissan Qashqa has gone all-out with the interior of the updated Qashqai, from materials to technology and design.
Proof A: Qashqai N-Design. I’ve never seen so much Alcantara in a mainstream car, and the resulting cabin is absolutely gorgeous. The flagship variants are all about the “wow factor”, and the N-Design does it justice!
The dash, door cards and centre tunnel on the T-i-L and top-spec N-Design models are wrapped in a soft black fake-suede material – giving these versions a very premium feel. The N-Design adds additional inserts to the seats.
White stitching breaks up the monotony of the black and levels up the space even more.
Beyond that, the upper interior panels are plastic but have a soft touch, and the gear selector has a shiny metallic finish. With touches of glossy black plastic here and there, it’s easy to mistake the Qashqai for a car from one of Europe’s three famous brands!
Even in the much cheaper Ti model, the interior ambience is not diminished at all.
The mid-spec 2025 Nissan Qashqa has replaced Alcantara with equally stylish leather and leatherette finishes, which looks quite classy!
The dual-tone black/brown colour scheme on our tester looked absolutely perfect, especially with the green exterior.
The cheapest ST variant isn’t bad either, with a synthetic leather steering wheel being added in the latest update.
If I could change one thing about the refreshed Qashqai’s design, I would ditch the small and clunky gear shifter on the e-Power model – it doesn’t feel good in the hand at all. But that’s a bit of a no-brainer!
The seats on both the Ti and N-Design models are quite comfortable, with ample cushioning. In keeping with the premium look of the cabin. Although the seats are a bit slim, they may feel a bit tight for larger drivers.
What’s under the bonnet?
The 2025 Nissan Qashqai still offers two powertrain options: a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine or a turbocharged three-cylinder engine, which is paired with Nissan’s e-Power technology.
e-Power models not only have the old-fashioned internal combustion engine, but also an electric motor up front, which directly drives the front wheels. However, the Qashqai does not have the option of the e-4orce all-wheel drive system.
The pre-update 2025 Nissan Qashqa had both of these powertrains, but the e-Power option on the new model is slightly more fuel efficient.
